We’re already fans of actress Cate Blanchett for her blockbuster talent and unfailingly elegant style. Now we have another reason to love her: the 42-year-old star recently appeared on the cover of Intelligent Life magazine without any photo retouching. If you’ve been following our blog,…
She’s 42.
She looks wonderful, lines and all. Can we let people age? Please? Can we applaud them for their growth and development and life experience, and appreciate those lines and wrinkles as evidence of a life well-lived?
We would all be less terrified about aging if we could find a way to do that.

Just finished watching this movie, which is eerily appropriate 36 years later. It’s also spooky that what Roger Ebert felt was far-fetched in 1976 feels pretty close to modern-day reality.
I also realized that modern Japanese companies and office buildings look and feel like the 1970’s never ended, right down to the fancy dining room in the office building. Watching the little details of impeccably dressed executives in bespoke suits being quietly attended to by junior staff (and the quintessential office ladies) is like a snapshot of many of my experiences within a large Japanese company.
I’ll be absorbing this movie for weeks.
