Anonymous asked:
Hii :) do you know any good foundation primers both drugstore and high-ends? Ones that you use and haven’t used. Also do you need a foundation primer if you already used a moisturizer before?

Hello :)

I’ll answer your second question first. Moisturizers and primers do not do the same thing. Moisturizers sink into your skin to hydrate it; primers sit on top of your skin to cover pores and fine lines and are meant to help give better coverage and staying power to liquid foundations. You don’t necessarily NEED to use a primer, but a moisturizer should always be used. Moisturizer is applied first.

Primers that are worth your money:

Hard Candy Sheer Envy Original Primer - $8 from Walmart or online - it’s oil-free and very lightweight

Monistat Anit-Chafing Gel - $7 at drugstores or superstores - They should really rename this product to Monistat Makeup Miracle. It’s definitely safe for use on your face, and contains the same active ingredients as actual face primers, minus the harmful additives that cosmetic companies add. It also helps control oil and prevent breakouts.

Smashbox PhotoFinish Primer - $35 from Sephora, Ulta or other beauty stores/online - This is a very costly primer but it does work. Whether it’s actually worth the money, I’m not too sure (I have tight pockets), but it’s definitely not going to disappoint you!

There are a lot of other foundation primers out there, both high and low end, but I honestly don’t like any others.

Any makeup blog that informs me that a feminine hygiene product has the same active ingredients as foundation primer for 1/5 the price gets mad-crazy thumbs up from me.

Lana Del Rey

I am amazed at the controversy surrounding Lana Del Rey. She has an interesting voice, writes some good music and is pleasant looking. This is neither grounds for beatification nor vilification. She does not belong to indie music culture, but she is no cookie-cutter pop icon either. Can we just enjoy the music and stop analyzing her to death? You’d swear she had promised her maidenhood to indie hipsters, only to be discovered fellating pop culture on the side. Grow up people, she can be whatever she wants to be, of her own accord, and we are free to like it or not. Good girl, bad girl, virgin, whore, indie, pop … is it the dichotomy that everyone is all lathered up about?

Flipboard

I’m discovering that I pay closer attention and read in more depth while using the Flipboard app.

This has led me to the conclusion that I avoid visiting a lot of sites because I despise the layout. I’m a more fickle creature than I ever imagined.

Cai Guo-Qiang sure did have a vision making this… The concept:
“With few wolves scattered in the front gallery, all ninety-nine wolves run, gallop, and jump toward the far end of the exhibition hall, where a wall stands. The bravery of the wolves is met head on by the unyielding wall. As the leading wolves go down, many more follow with force and determination. As those in the front fall and pile up, those behind take up their positions.”
There are lots of other pieces - like a tiger hanging from the ceiling with a bunch of arrows in it… But I’m not going to post that up. I’ll let you discover his work yourself: http://www.caiguoqiang.com/

Art just blows me away sometimes.

Here’s an awesome sight that most of us have probably never seen before. Meet Champis, an awesome dwarf rabbit in Sweden who think he’s a sheepdog. Champis belongs to Nils-Erik and Greta who have a farm near the village of Käl. He’s really good at herding his little flock of sheep!. That sheepdog hanging out in the background clearly has very little to do. Perhaps he coaches Champis.

This is why bunnies are awesome - some of them have no understanding of how small they are or how low on the food chain they sit. I had a rabbit named Momo that chased a pet-sitting friend up onto a table and circled like a shark until she managed to bolt for the door. He was the brassiest little guy, but he’d melt like butter for pets from me. I miss him.

So … if a person wanted to style their cat’s hair with a non-toxic, preferably food-based product, what would that person use?
